Doobie Bros with Chicago in Phoenix
"Terrific doobies! Tom Johnston, the consummate frontman, demonstrated perfect timing as he communicated with the audience and sang great. Patrick Simmons and he controlled it well, delivering a great guitar performance. John McFee smoothly transitioned between guitar, harmonica, and violin. A great show with lots of energy, their upcoming album tunes sounded great. I will surely be pursuing that album when it is released.
Chicago... well, the band was a little disorganized but the horns sound great. Performers seemed unsure where to stand on the stage. The singers did not sound particularly well and seemed to lose their place a few times. It's almost as if the older band members Pankow, Loughnane, and Parazaider decided that vocals weren't all that important. Can't you find someone who sort of sounds like Peter Cetera? Turn the horns mikes up and please turn the vocals down. Overall, it was a good experience but some adjustments were in order. Your bass player does not have good singing chops in my opinion. I was excited that Teeth of God - Sleep Token Tribute offered an opportunity to sing "If You Leave Me Now" to someone who donated the most $$ to breast cancer research on their site - that was very cool. Overall, it was good but with a better singer it would be Great."
